First Look: Red Color ZenPad C 7.0

We always like to give you the highest resolution images and photos possible. In this situation, we have some “mobile friendly” images of a lower resolution. These are some of the first looks at the red model ZenPad C 7.0.

This particular model is going to see a limited release and so far, we’re seeing this in Hungary. In case you’re wondering the red color is only available with the ZenPad C 7.0 series, in particular the Z170C, Z170CG and NOT the Z170MG. I’m sure this is a situation where beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Asus holds ZenPad launch event in Philippines – Official Prices

The slow crawl towards a global ZenPad release continues. Asia has seen some models available to buy, namely the ZenPad C 7.0 in both wifi (Z170C) and 3G (Z170CG) versions. Now we are reading about the Philippines and their somewhat low key ZenPad launch event.

Although the ZenPad C 7.0 is available now to buy, we have some of the other prices and in particular, the ZenPad S 8.0 model. Yes, this is the Z580CA that Asus Philippines was showing off. That’s the fully stacked model in case you’re wondering!

  • ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) – PhP 16,995
  • ZenPad 7.0 (Z370CG – 3G) – PhP 7,995
  • ZenPad C 7.0 (Z170CG – 3G) – PhP 5,995

In terms of the release date schedule, we haven’t found those details just yet. However, the accessories are reported to be shipping sometime in mid-late August.

In terms of pricing and how reasonably priced the ZenPad S 8.0 is in the Philippines, let’s look at some numbers comparisons. In the US, this same tablet is priced at $299 USD. In Canada, it’s priced at $399. When we do a conversion on the official announced price in Peso (16,995), it works out to $372 USD and $487 CAD. Those of you living in the Philippines should do a price comparison with the iPad Mini for a better perspective on pricing. Tell us in the comment section!

Prices for ZenPad accessories – We have updated accurate (EURO) pricing!

To anyone in North America, sorry, these prices are in EURO, however you can take these prices (and we will) and make some guesstimates. In general the US market sees slightly lower prices than most of the European markets. That’s especially true with hardware, but the difference may not be as dramatic with accessories. In fact, we’re seeing a wide variance here. Some other current Asus accessories are showing up as cheaper in EURO than USD, but in some cases (no pun intended) we see the prices cheaper in USD (by a large margin) than the EURO prices. We could use our secret sauce to calculate expected US and North American prices, but in this instance, we more comfortable giving you the straight currency converted prices instead. We hope to see some accurate North American prices very soon.

The hero is coming! ZenPad Z580CA shows up at FCC

We spoke recently about a mysterious ZenPad with the product or model number P01MA that showed up on the Bluetooth Product directory. This was an oddity as the P01M was shown to be the Z580C, the $199 ZenPad S 8.0 that is currently exclusive to Best Buy. So when we spotted the P01MA, it was realized that in fact it was the Z580CA model. The question a couple days ago was whether there was going to be a separate FCC submission or was is close enough to the Z580C. We now have the answer.

Indeed, the P01MA has shown up at the FCC. There is good news and bad news on this. Good news is that it’s certainly coming within the next 2 to 4 weeks  (a regular contributor to the site Dan says, “The Equipment Under Test(EUT)was listed as a production unit, not an engineering sample. This would lead me to believe we will see it on the shelves soon.” The flip side is that we may know the date, but it means a bit more waiting. Can it show up earlier than a few weeks on store shelves? Perhaps, not entirely likely though based on history. However, be happy in the sense that the accessories should be in the stores also by that time. So  if you want that TriCover case and the Z Stylus pen, those should be in stock by the time the Z580CA hit the store shelves. Heck, at least there is something tangible now. It’s here and it’s coming!

Sound the trumpets! The king is arriving (eventually)! We will look for any indicators and supplier details as to a possible arrival date.

Great hands-on video with ZenPad C 7.0 (Z170CG) in 1080p HD

A terrific Vietnam technology website has released their initial unboxing and hands-on video, along with some nice photos of the ZenPad C 7.0. The most countries have seen the budget Z170C or Z170CG hit store shelves already. With modest specs and features, this is certainly not the most anticipated ZenPad tablet. That said, it’s super cheap and it does look pretty nice in this hands-on video. The fact that the Z170CG is 3G (voice calling) with dual sim slots, it’s going to appeal to some markets for sure. It comes with the Intel X3-C3230 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (has microSD card slot), 1024 x 600 resolution, 2MP rear and 0.3MP front cameras, and weighs 265 grams. Check it out!

Asus shows how easy it is to swap out covers and cases

A pretty simple 4-step photo tutorial on swapping out the back cover of the ZenPad 8.0 (also same process on the ZenPad 7.0) has shown up on the Asus Taiwan Facebook page.

Of all the countries, Taiwan has seen the biggest push so far from a marketing perspective. The most prominent ZenPad released is the ZenPad 8.0, both the wifi (Z380C) and 4G LTE (Z380KL) are currently available, in addition to the budget model ZenPad C 7.0.

As is the case with customers in the US who’ve bought the Z580C, the Taiwan market is still waiting for the official Asus accessories to arrive. So as nice as this photo tutorial is, where can people buy the Zen Covers? No answers right now, just questions.

Regarding the customizable/removable back plate on the ZenPad 7.0 and 8.0 tablets, it’s pretty nifty. There is a snapping sound which to us, is quite satisfying as you put in place a new back cover or one of the custom cases like the Audio Cover or Power Case.
