How much would you pay for 10, 11 or 12-inch ZenPad S 8.0?

Intentionally or not, Asus has created one model of ZenPad that is taking the spotlight. There are a number of models, but it would appear that the ZenPad S 8.0 is most desirable and it appears by quite a long shot.

So when we’re talking next generation, it’s not too early. Look at the Zenfone 2 and the number of variants that Asus has announced since that first model only a few months ago. With the ZenPad S 8.0 it’s entirely possible that Asus will put a major focus on their most popular model.

So the price points currently for the 8-inch model is $199 and $299. So if we looked at a 10-inch version, it might be safe to add $100. Thus, a Z500C could be priced at $299 and a Z500CA could be priced at $399. Clearly speculative, but at most it would likely be $100 more. It’s going to need a bigger battery to support the bigger screen.

It’s even possible that a 11-inch or 12-inch model could come. We’ve speculated that there could be a ZenPad Pro model to counter the rumored Apple iPad Pro which is said to be 12-inch in size. So a ZenPad S 8.0 at that 12-inch size? You could add $100 to $150 for that added dimensions. No question it’s not going to be as appealing a price point in terms of advertising, but the fact is it would be far less expensive than other tablets in the same size and features.

Amazon.com now has $199 ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580C) in stock

We noted last week BestBuy.com increased the price of the ZenPad S 8.0 from $199 to $229. However, we can tell you now that Amazon.com is now shipping that same tablet for that nice $199 price point.

As we tend to say often, the $199 ZenPad S 8.0 is not the same as the other ZenPad S 8.0 at $299. Sure, both “S” models, but the CA at $299 has a few features that you may want to pay more for. Please read our comparison article which should help you decide what’s the best choice.

To also clarify at time of writing, no, there are no official Asus cases like the TriCover available yet. We hope to have details very soon on official Asus accessories for the US market.

Japan gets two Asus ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) variants

Asus has rolled out some ZenPad tablets in Japan and in that news, there are a couple interesting ZenPad S 8.0 models that we’re seeing. These are Z580CA models, to be clear. The Japan market appears to be getting 2 variants and likely come at great prices.

Model: Z580CA-BK32 and Z580CA-WH32

  • Intel Z3580 (2.3GHz)
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB Storage
  • Price: 42,984 yen ($344.45 USD)

Model: Z580CA-BK16 and Z580CA-WH16

  • Intel Z3560 (1.8GHz)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Storage
  • Price: 36,504 yen ($292.52 USD)

white-zenpad-s8-z580ca-z580c-8When you look at straight currency conversion, and then consider that the top end Japan model with 32GB vs. 64GB for the North American Z580-C1 model shows a USD price of $344, it’s pretty clear that the US market is getting a darn good price. In terms of 32GB storage vs. 64GB storage, the fact is you can expand storage with a 128GB microSD card. It’s unclear at this point if the US market will get a slightly lower priced Z580CA model, like a Z580CA-B1 for example.

Malaysia price for ZenPad C 7.0 (Z170CG) is RM499

z170c-z170cg-zenpad-c-7-0-002This is brand new information. Malaysia looks to be getting their first ZenPad model, which is going to be the ZenPad C 7.0 Series. In particular, word is coming out now that the 3G Model, the Z170CG, will be coming at a price of RM499. This tablet has voice calling capabilities.

What we’ve seen in the past couple of weeks in many Asian countries, is the release of the ZenPad C 7.0 along side the ZenPad 7.0, both having a 3G variant in those markets. With a price of RM499 for the C 7.0, expect the ZenPad 7.0 to be slightly, but not that much more expensive. One main difference between the Z170CG and Z370CG (aside from the hardware specs) is in the dual sim vs. non dual sim. The ZenPad Z170CG has dual sim but the Z370CG does not. This may be a key feature for you, so it’s better to know now, rather than later. In our opinion, that would be the only selling point (aside from price) that the Z170CG has over the Z370CG.

In the Z170CG, you’re getting a Intel Atom Quad-Core processor, Android Lollipop 5.0, 1024 x 600 resolution screen, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, dual sim card slots, 0.3MP front camera, 2MP rear camera, microSD card slot and front facing speaker.

The only 2 models that have showed up at the Malaysian equivalent to the US based FCC are the Z170CG and Z370CG, and that was back in late June. We do hope that in the next week or so there are some new models, like say, the ZenPad S 8.0 that show up in their database.
