Say what you will about the ZenPad 7.0 vs. the ZenPad S 8.0, but the fact is that in about a weeks time, both colors of the ZenPad 7.0 have sold out on Flipkart. Both of these models are essentially fonepads because they have 3G phone calling ability. We are hoping to have details of upcoming ZenPad models heading into India. This “sold out” status shouldn’t be for long so please stand by for updates!
Asus has recently updated their Transformer Book Series with a new model, the T100HA. Based on the promo video it’s definitely looking pretty spiffy! It’s running Windows 10, not Android so be aware. The key selling point is the reported 12 hour battery life which is likely under ideal conditions. It’s made of aluminum for extra durability and still maintains a great price at just $299. Asus perfected the small yet full sized keyboard designs on 10-inch laptops with their Eee PC. If you’re looking for a solid 2-in-1, the Transformer Book is worth looking at. The early customer reviews so far are averaging about 4 out of 5 stars with a lot of people mentioning the great battery life.
Asus ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) Review (Rev. 1)

Introduction
Gone are the Asus MeMO Pad and Transformer Pad tablets. As part of a strategy shift, Asus decided to rebrand their entire Android tablet line-up to simply ZenPad.
Asus has a variety of ZenPad tablets on the market, including two 7-inch models (ZenPad C 7.0 and ZenPad 7.0), two 8-inch models (ZenPad 8.0 and ZenPad S 8.0) and one 10-inch model (ZenPad 10). All are very reasonably priced with the ZenPad S 8.0 being the more premium top-end offering compared to the rest of the line-up.
Asus has been renowned for creating quality products and selling them at very affordable prices. Even though the ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) is the flagship or “hero” Android tablet from Asus, they have still managed a very reasonable price point. In fact, when you look at competing flagship tablets in the 8-inch category from Samsung and Apple, Asus delivers similar specs and hardware at a much lower price.
There are two different ZenPad S 8.0 versions, the Z580C at $199 US and the Z580CA at $299 US. There are a number of key differences between the ZenPad S 8.0 models and to help clear up the confusion, we have a basic comparison article here. In addition to those differences, you will find different variations of the Z580CA from country to country. So depending on where you live, the ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) model may come with a different (slower) processor and or less RAM.
For the sake of clarity I am reviewing the North American version. Even with the slight Z580CA variations, we hope this review will help you decide if this tablet is worth buying and whether it will fit your needs.
We spotted something interesting and new on the Asus.com website. This is a first mention of something branded “ZenPad Theater”. In fact Asus has created a new product page listing. So what is it? We were initially confused but we figured it out:
“ASUS ZenPad Theater is a tablet entertainment bundle that comes with ASUS Audio Cover.” – Asus.com
Some markets we are aware of bundles but so far these types of bundles haven’t been released in North America. In fact we haven’t seen a retail listing just yet for a ZenPad Theater. If you’re unfamiliar with the accessory, the audio cover has a 5.1 surround speaker system built into the case. It’s a very unique product to be sure. It sells for $69.99 US and is available for only the ZenPad 8.0 and ZenPad 7.0 tablets. In terms of a bundle price, we will wait to see what information Asus releases in the coming weeks.
We’re going to be reviewing the ZenPad 10 tablet in the coming week or so. For now, here is a look at the retail box and the contents. The ZenPad 10 comes in a few different models, including the Z300C (wifi), Z300CG (3G) and Z300CL. Some models will comes with 1GB of RAM or will come with 2GB of RAM depending on what country you are in. Two key selling points of the ZenPad 10 include the Z Stylus compatibility and the Audio Dock keyboard accessory.
ZenPad 10 Retail Box and Contents
This is a big deal for anyone looking at buying the 8-inch ZenPad 8.0 tablet. The Audio Cover is now available in the Asus US online store for $69. The Audio Cover replaces the back cover of the ZenPad 8.0 and have a 5.1-speaker system built right into the case. So in other words, this case fits perfectly and matches the look and feel of the tablet. On a single charge, the Audio Cover will last 6 hours with continuous usage according to the Asus product page. Right now it’s just available in black color, so if you’re shopping for the $129 Z380 tablet in the US, perhaps you want to buy the black model tablet. If not, you will have to wait for the other color Audio Cover accessories to hit the US market. For anyone in the US, we only see this listed on the Asus US online store and is not yet in-stock on other US based retailer sites.
