ZenPad Theater available to buy in Malaysia for RM 999.00

Asus has created a bundle which is branded as ZenPad Theatre. This means you’re getting either a ZenPad 7.0 or ZenPad 8.0 bundled with the brilliant Audio Cover accessory.

The model available in Malaysia for RM 999.00 is the Z380KL which is the ZenPad 8.0 with a quad-core Snapdragon processor. It comes with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM. Cameras are 2MP front and 8MP rear.

The Audio Cover is very unique because it’s a cover that has speakers built into it. In all, it has 4 satellite speakers, on center channel speaker and one subwoofer. The tablet has DTS-HD sound which is going to make movie watching a treat.

P00A appears to be a MediaTek powered ZenPad 8.0 (Z380M)

We may be getting a better idea about the P00A tablet which was just spotted at the FCC yesterday.

This does appear to be a MediaTek powered ZenPad 8.0 tablet. The removable back cover from the FCC documentation makes more sense in this regard.

What isn’t clear is why another ZenPad 8.0 would be launched at this time. Certainly with a MediaTek processor, the price will be even lower. It’s entirely possible that this could be coming to North America as the ZenPad Theatre, which is the tablet bundled with the amazing Audio Cover. However on the Asus website there are 3 different 8-inch ZenPad models listed and non of them show a MediaTek powered option.

The only other MediaTek powered ZenPad at this time is a ZenPad C 7.0 (Z170MG) which is a 3G enabled tablet.

For right now this remains a bit of a mystery. The P00A does not appear to be an upgraded ZenPad specs wise. It appears to be a differently (lower) priced option. Stay tuned for more news!

New Asus tablet P00A shows up at FCC

Asus seems to be making moves towards releasing new tablets in the North American market. We’re just seeing a P00A tablet for the first time. It’s definitely interesting.

So what’s interesting about this submission? Asus states in a letter that the FCC ID label will be put under the back cover and will be visible to the users as they install the SD card.

In a way, the dotted line is like the design section found on the ZenPad S 8.0 models. However, there is certainly no removable back cover on the first generation models. This certainly makes us curious about the P00A.

New ZenPad tablet shows up at FCC

Asus and Computex is an exciting time. Computex 2016 starts at the end of May, into the first week of June 2016. Typically Asus showcases their products at that show and then there is quite a long delay before products become available to buy in stores.

We’ve spotted a new Asus tablet at the FCC going by the product code P008. This is the second reference to this P008 model, as it previously showed up on GFX Bench.

Here is what some of the early specs indicate based on the two mentions online so far (nothing is official from Asus):

  • 8-inch
  • Android 6.0
  • 2048 x 1536 resolution
  • Snapdragon 650 (unconfirmed) hexa-core processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras
  • 4,680 mAh battery
  • 802.11 ac wifi

When products show up at the FCC, the earliest they are released and available to buy in stores is 4 weeks. Most times it’s longer than that. Given that Computex is months away, the listing showing up now is a bit confusing to us. Could Asus release some new Zenpad tablets prior to Computex 2016? Hard to imagine but you never know.

So this new tablet seems interesting. It’s somewhere between the ZenPad S 8.0 and the ZenPad 8.0 model. Asus has said previously that they want to bring more quality to their tablets, so this may very well be the next ZenPad 8.0 model.

ASUSPRO M700C and M700KL – M Series 7-inch Tablets for Business and Enterprise

The M700C and M700KL are the actual product names for the 7-inch tablet which are essentially modified ZenPad 7.0 tablets. This means both of these models have the replaceable back cover for use of the battery case or audio cover accessories.

Asus being realistic about tablet sales in 2016

There have been a lot of headlines over the past year regarding slumping tablet sales. Even the almighty iPad has seen declines. From recent Asus investors conferences, the company is keeping a modest expectation for tablet sales leading into 2016. In 2015, Asus sold 5.9 million tablets and in 2016, the company is hoping to ship somewhere around 5 to 6 million tablets.

What you’re starting to see now, is an increase in the 2-in-1 options, like the Transformer Book. Having a keyboard and tablet combination is hoping to create some growth in the industry. This type of device makes more sense in the Windows 10 setting, and the 2-in-1 Android offerings are not that plentiful. It will be interesting to see what Asus does in 2016 regarding possible Android based 2-in-1 products. Wait for Computex 2016 in June for those possibilities.

From what we have observed, Asus may have seen a break even situation for their ZenPad tablets in 2015 largely due to supply issues. For a majority of the year, especially in the US market, the hero ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) was largely unavailable. Just our opinion that with a wider release of the Z580CA, it’s likely Asus would have seen stronger sales numbers. From the email messages we receive, most people have been asking about whether the Z580CA would be available in their country. So India for example, still has yet to see a Z580CA release, which in our mind, are sales that were there to be had.

We expect to see news about the 2016 ZenPad tablets very soon. We do expect to see higher resolution models, and perhaps fewer models this year. We can’t wait to bring you the news!
