Is it too soon to hear about new tablets from Asus? We think not!
What we’re talking about here is a tablet model only known as P008. It’s unlikely to be the Z581C (Asus prototype 3D tablet) based on the information found on GFX Bench. Here are the specs listed:
- Qualcomm hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor @ 1.8GHz
- 2GB RAM
- 2048 x 1536 resolution
- 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras
- 16GB storage
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow
So what might this be? Based on the storage it seems unlikely to be a new ZenPad S 8.0. All of the ZenPad models out now with one exception run Intel Atom processors, so this is certainly a change in direction to see a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Also when we consider the clock speed of 1.8GHz, that is not near the current ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) which runs at 2.3GHz. It’s possible that this could be a replacement to the Z580C model which did run a slower processor but had the high resolution display. The other possibility is that Asus is upping the ZenPad 8.0 model to a higher resolution screen. This is possible based on what Asus CEO Jerry Shen said regarding making higher quality tablets.
For now this is a mystery, but it’s something new for sure. Keep it here for the latest on Asus tablets!
